Prayers of St Shio of Mghvime
“Blessed art thou, O most holy Virgin Theotokos, Lady Mary; for by the incarnation of Christ God from thee the world was freed from sin, and we have all become partakers with the angels, and have been counted worthy of incorruption, and have received Paradise. We entreat thee, O glorious Mother of the Light: together with the glorious John the Baptist, cease not to intercede before the Holy Trinity for us who ask mercy of thee.”
“To the uncircumscribed and unchangeable Trinity in three Persons, the unoriginate Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, one Godhead undivided and unconfused, we Thine unworthy servants pray and bow down in worship. Preserve this house of Thy holiness unto the ages of ages, and this altar which Thou hast granted us keep by Thy grace from every assault, unshaken by earthquake, flood and fire, and by the invasion of evil spirits and of the barbarians stirred up by them, through the intercessions of the unwedded Theotokos, of the glorious angels and of the holy Baptist, with the multitude of all Thy saints; and save us, O good Lord. Alleluia.”
“O Jesus, good and loving mankind, who wast born of the holy Virgin and Theotokos to save those led astray by the devil, and to deliver from his wiles those who trust in Thee and confess Thee God made flesh: do Thou, O Master and Lord, grant to me, Thine unworthy servant, to abide with patience in this place, that I may finish in a manner pleasing to Thee the remaining days of my life; and make me worthy, with the others on whom Thou hast had mercy, to behold those eternal good things, through the intercessions of our all-incorrupt Lady, Thy spotless Mother, of the glorious holy apostles, and of our holy father John.”
“O Lord of glory and God of all comfort, blessed be Thy name unto the ages, for great is Thy mercy upon us all; for Thou savest both man and beast, O Lord, according to the multitude of Thy mercies, who hast been pleased to care even for me, unworthy and worthless; wherefore for all things I thank Thy goodness, which forsaketh not me, Thy sinful and unprofitable servant.”
