Prayer for Deliverance from Dread Earthquake

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Thrice)

Troparion: O Thou who lookest upon the earth and makest it tremble, deliver us from dread wrath and earthquake, O Christ our God, and send down upon us richly Thy mercies, through the intercessions of the Theotokos, and save us.

Kontakion: Deliver us all, O Lord, from dread earthquake and from the unbearable wounds of our sins. Spare, O Lord, Thy Orthodox people, whom Thou hast purchased with Thy blood, O Master, and give not the city over to destruction by dread earthquake; for besides Thee we know no other God; and say to those who cry to Thee: I alone am with you, and none can harm you.

O God, great, dread and wondrous, great and righteous, who art the Creator of all and orderest all things well; who lookest upon the earth and makest it tremble; who touchest the mountains and they smoke; who shakest the heavens to their foundations and their pillars quake; who shakest the earth and by Thy regard establishest it again; before whom all fear and tremble at the face of Thy might, for none can withstand Thy wrath and the terrors that have come upon us sinners; but countless and ineffable is the mercy of Thy promise: remember, O Lord, Thy mercy and grant it to us, for Thy mercies are from everlasting and unto the ages. Establish this Thy creation, strengthen this land, still this earthquake, still the earth’s pain from the quaking, and destroy us not with our iniquities, nor punish us according to our sins in the depths beneath the earth; for Thou art our God, the God of mercy and salvation, and to Thee we send up glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
