Prayer to Our Lord Jesus Christ for Godchildren

O Lord Jesus Christ, may Thy mercies be upon my godchildren (names): shelter them under Thy protection, keep them from every evil desire, drive away from them every enemy and adversary, open the ears and eyes of their hearts, and grant their hearts gentleness and contrition.

O Lord, we are all Thy creatures: have mercy on my godchildren (names) and turn them to repentance.

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on my godchildren (names); enlighten their minds with the light of the teaching of Thy holy Gospel, set them on the way of Thy commandments, and teach them, O Saviour, to do Thy will, for Thou art our God.

O most merciful Queen of heaven, Virgin Theotokos! By thy birth-giving thou didst deliver the race of men from the eternal torment of the devil, for thou didst bear for us Christ our Saviour. Look in thy mercy upon this one also (name), deprived of the mercy and grace of God; by thy motherly boldness and prayer ask of thy Son, Christ our God, to send down His grace upon this one who is near to perishing. O all-blessed one, thou art the hope of the hopeless and the salvation of the despairing: let not the enemy rejoice over his soul!
