Prayer to St John the Warrior
He is entreated for the finding of what is lost
O holy martyr of Christ, John the Warrior! Self-sacrificing in battles, banisher of enemies, intercessor of the oppressed and protector of all Orthodox Christians.
O glorious mediator and God-pleasing warrior of Christ, John! Have mercy on us, sinful and unworthy; be our helper in afflictions and griefs, and deliver us from all trials and sicknesses, from every evil and every hostile man; for grace hath been given thee by God to pray for us sinners, who are tried by grievous pains and passions. Drive away from us those who hate us and wish us evil, and like a strong wall shelter us from all enemies visible and invisible.
O warrior John, crowned by God! Forget not us who ever pray to thee and ask for help and unfailing mercy, and make us, sinful and unworthy, worthy to receive from God the ineffable good things which He hath prepared for them that love Him. For to Him is due all glory, honour and worship, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
