Prayer to Be Read on One’s Birthday

O Lord God, King of all the world, visible and invisible! On Thy holy will depend all the days and years of my life. I thank Thee, O most merciful Father, that Thou hast been pleased to prolong my life by one more year. For because of my sins I am not worthy of such mercy, but it is Thou who showest it upon me in Thine ineffable love for mankind. Prolong Thy mercies to me, a sinner; prolong my life in virtue, in love, health and peace, in harmony and one-mindedness with all my kin and all my neighbours. Grant me abundance of the fruits of the earth and all that is needful for my good. Above all, cleanse my conscience and establish me on the way of salvation, that I too, standing firm upon it, may after a long life pass over to life eternal and be counted worthy to inherit Thy heavenly kingdom. Do Thou, O Lord, bless the beginning of this year of mine and all the days of my life. Amen.
