Paraklesis to Our Father among the Saints Spyridon the Wonderworker, Bishop of Trimythous

Priest: Blessed is our God…

And if a layman, he says: Through the prayers of our holy fathers, O Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us. Amen.

Through the prayers of our holy fathers, O Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us. Amen.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

O Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, who art everywhere present and fillest all things with Thy grace, Treasury of good things and Giver of life: come and abide in us, and cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O Good One.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Thrice)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. O Lord, deliver us and release us from our sins; O Master, pardon our iniquities; O Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name’s sake.

Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Priest: For Thine is the kingdom…

Lord, have mercy. (Twelve times)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O come, let us worship God our King. O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ, our King and God. O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and our God.

O Lord, attend to my prayer: hearken to my supplication in thy truth; hear me in thy righteousness. And enter not into judgment with thy servant, for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has brought my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in a dark place, as those that have been long dead. Therefore my spirit was grieved in me; my heart was troubled within me. I remembered the days of old; and I meditated on all thy doings: yea, I meditated on the works of thine hands. I spread forth my hands to thee; my soul thirsts for thee, as a dry land. Pause. Hear me speedily, O Lord; my spirit has failed; turn not away thy face from me, else I shall be like to them that go down to the pit. Cause me to hear thy mercy in the morning; for I have hoped in thee; make known to me, O Lord, the way wherein I should walk; for I have lifted up my soul to thee. Deliver me from mine enemies, O Lord; for I have fled to thee for refuge. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God; thy good Spirit shall guide me in the straight way. Thou shalt quicken me, O Lord, for thy name's sake; in thy righteousness thou shalt bring my soul out of affliction. And in thy mercy thou wilt destroy mine enemies, and wilt destroy all those that afflict my soul; for I am thy servant.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, O God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, O God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

God is the Lord and hath appeared unto us; blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Verse 1: O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever. Verse 2: All the nations compassed me about, and in the name of the Lord I withstood them. Verse 3: I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Verse 4: The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner; this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes.

The truth of things revealed thee to thy flock as a rule of faith, an image of meekness and a teacher of abstinence; therefore thou hast won the heights by humility and riches by poverty. O holy great hierarch Spyridon, entreat Christ God to have mercy on our souls.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Thou wast shown forth as a champion of the First Council and a wonderworker, O God-bearing Spyridon, our father; therefore thou didst speak to the dead woman in the tomb and turn the serpent into gold, and while thou didst chant thy holy prayers thou hadst angels serving with thee, O most sacred one. Glory to Him who gave thee strength; glory to Him who crowned thee; glory to Him who through thee worketh signs for all.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

We will never cease, O Theotokos, we the unworthy, from speaking of thy mighty acts; for hadst thou not stood before us to intercede, who would have kept us free until now? We will not depart from thee, O Lady, for thou ever savest thy servants from all misfortunes.

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy great mercy; and according to the multitude of thy compassions blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I am conscious of mine iniquity; and my sin is continually before me. Against thee only have I sinned, and done evil before thee: that thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. For, behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother conceive me. For, behold, thou lovest truth: thou hast manifested to me the secret and hidden things of thy wisdom. Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be purified: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow. Thou shalt cause me to hear gladness and joy: the afflicted bones shall rejoice. Turn away thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit in my inward parts. Cast me not away from thy presence; and remove not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of thy salvation: establish me with thy directing Spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and ungodly men shall turn to thee. Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation: and my tongue shall joyfully declare thy righteousness. O Lord, thou shalt open my lips; and my mouth shall declare thy praise. For if thou desiredst sacrifice, I would have given it: thou wilt not take pleasure in whole-burnt-offerings. Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit: a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, to Sion in thy good pleasure; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then shalt thou be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, offering, and whole-burnt-sacrifices: then shall they offer calves upon thine altar.

Irmos: Of old the Word of the Father, who became flesh for the sake of us sinners, covered Pharaoh with the waves, together with his chariots and his mightily armed host; to Him we sing: O glorious God, Thou art glorified.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

Thou wast upright, meek and merciful, O blessed one, filled with love, wise and prudent, adorned with every good and arrayed in virtues; therefore we entreat thee: by thy help loose the passions stirred up in our souls and the pains of our bodies.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

Thou didst endure persecutions for the faith at the hands of foul rulers and didst shatter all the snares of the enemy by the power of the Spirit; now deliver me from those snares by thine intercession, O valiant one, and keep me from every temptation.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Like David, God took thee from the flock of sheep, O blessed one, and set thee as shepherd of rational sheep; and the Church of Trimythous found thee as a treasure of great price and received thee with joy.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O all-holy Bride, incorrupt one, enlighten and sanctify my thought and my soul, I pray thee, and drive away the mist of my folly and the gloom of my sins, that I may sing to thee as is meet.

Irmos: Establish me upon the rock of faith, enlarge my mouth over my enemies and gladden my soul, that I may cry to Thee, O Thou who alone art holy: none is holy beside Thee, my God.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

At the First Council of the fathers thou wast a companion of Nicholas the wonderworker, O servant of Christ, divinely-speaking Spyridon; and, adorned with simple words, thou didst loudly proclaim the Son of the unoriginate Father, consubstantial and equal with the Father.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

Thou wast shown to be wise in God, O blessed one, by the power of the Most High, and with thy divine tongue, as with a well-made sling, thou didst cast down the apostasy of Arius, as David did Goliath, and didst exalt the crown of them that confess aright.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Thou didst gloriously expound the true faith, O hierarch, in the assembly of hierarchs, and by pressing a clay tile in thy hands thou didst bring forth fire and water, and by wonderworking power didst clearly show the Trinity of Persons.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Heal the wounds of my soul and enlighten my mind, darkened by negligence, O Theotokos, that I may sing to thee: none is holy as thou, O immaculate one, and none is incorrupt beside thee, O Lady.

Deliver from dangers those who ever hope in thy holiness, O holy great hierarch Spyridon, for we all flee to thee as to an unbreakable wall and protection.

Look upon us, O holy wonderworking hierarch Spyridon, and heal the grievous wounds of our bodies and the sicknesses of our souls.

Thou didst adorn the Church of Christ with teaching and make beautiful the image of God with deeds, O venerable hierarch Spyridon; for the multitude of thy virtues shone forth in the world, and the grace of healings enlightens all; wherefore with faith we keep thy memory, O father.

Irmos: Not an angel but the Lord Himself, God incarnate of the Virgin, Thou didst come to us and save us wholly, who cry: Glory to Thy power.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

The divine Spirit, the worker of wonders, rested upon thee, O blessed father and chief shepherd; thou wast counted worthy to behold divine visions, and thou wast truly shown to be a wondrous shepherd.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

O dread wonder! When thou didst call, the dead woman at once spoke to thee as though living; the river stood still at the command of thy words, and the king’s sickness was straightway driven out.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

By thy prayer thou didst open the floodgates of heaven, O venerable one, and deliver the land from drought; thou didst set men free from sicknesses and truly raise the dead, O God-bearing Spyridon.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

The theologians proclaimed the depth of thy mysteries to be wholly beyond reach, O incorrupt one, for thou didst ineffably bear the Uncircumscribed made flesh.

Irmos: O Giver of light to the luminaries and Salvation of the lost, O Christ, Deliverer of all, to Thee we rise at dawn, O King of peace: enlighten us with Thy light, for apart from Thee, O Good One, we know no other God.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

Kindled by the coals of the Holy Spirit, O God-inspired one, thou didst draw many to faith in the true God; enlighten me also, who am darkened by sins, and deliver me from a faith that is not living but lukewarm.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

Thou didst become like the God-pleasing fathers, O all-sacred Spyridon, and didst save the people of God from drowning to the destruction of their souls; so now also shelter the chosen people of Iberia from the snares of Satan and from an alien faith.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Thou wast truly shown to be a champion and contender for the faithful people in temptations, and daily thou didst gladden all the poor and infirm; so now also be for us a comforter and a builder-up in want and sorrow.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Thou didst bear for us a new Child, O holy Virgin, Him who was begotten of the Father before the ages, the only unoriginate Word; entreat Him as thy Son and God to have mercy on us who with a pure heart confess thee Theotokos, O all-holy Mother of God.

Irmos: The wave of sin has encompassed me, and I flee to Thy great mercy: bring me up from drowning, O Good One, my God, I pray Thee.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

Thou becamest a faithful chief shepherd under the Good Shepherd, O God-wise one, a helper of widows and a father of orphans, a support of the sorrowful and a bountiful rebuker of tyrants, O venerable one.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

By strengthening the divine teaching thou wast shown to be a pillar of the Church of Christ and a champion of the faith, and thou didst lead the people of Christ on the straight path of Orthodoxy.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Thou didst imitate the hospitality of Abraham, O God-minded one, and in time of famine thou didst generously feed the destitute; now also look upon us who entreat thee, and deliver us from the afflictions and sorrows that come upon us.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Thy womb became wider than the heavens, for thou didst contain God, O unwedded Bride, who cannot be contained or circumscribed by creatures.

Wounded with love for Christ, O all-sacred Spyridon, thou didst give wings to thy mind, and by divine radiance, through visible deeds, thou didst find things invisible, O God-inspired one; for thou becamest a sacrifice offered to God, and boldly thou intercedest for us all.

Let us now praise Spyridon, the hierarch of the Lord sanctified from his mother’s womb, who received the tablets of grace, of divine glory, and who is glorious in wonders among all creation, as a fervent eyewitness, a defender of the poor and a guide of sinful souls; for he became a sacrifice upon the divine altar of Christ, and boldly he intercedes for us all.

Priest: Let us attend.

The Lord said to His disciples: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Glory to Thee, O Lord, glory to Thee.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Through the intercessions of the holy hierarch Spyridon of Trimythous, O Merciful One, blot out the multitude of our transgressions.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Through the intercessions of the Theotokos, O Merciful One, blot out the multitude of our transgressions.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy compassions blot out my transgression, and have mercy on me, O God.

Sticheron: In guilelessness thou didst finish thy life, and by purity of heart thou becamest an honourable vessel and dwelling of the Holy Spirit; thou wast anointed with the oil of holiness and becamest a chief priest, and by wonders and signs thou didst shine forth like the sun. Therefore with faith we celebrate thy divine memory, O blessed Spyridon: intercede for our souls.

Priest: O God, save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance; visit Thy world with mercy and compassion; exalt the horn of Orthodox Christians and send down upon us Thy rich mercies, through the intercessions of our all-immaculate Lady Theotokos and ever-Virgin Mary; by the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, by the power of the Cross of the vine; through the protection of the honourable bodiless Powers of heaven; of the honourable and glorious Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist John; of the holy prophet Elijah the Tishbite and righteous Enoch; of the holy, glorious and all-praised foremost apostles Peter and Paul; of the holy apostle Thomas and the apostles who enlightened Georgia, Andrew the First-called, Simon the Canaanite and Matthias; of our holy mother, the virgin Nino, equal to the apostles; of the holy King Mirian and Queen Nana, equal to the apostles; of our fathers among the saints, the great ecumenical teachers and hierarchs Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom; of our father among the saints Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the wonderworker; of the holy, glorious and victorious martyrs: the holy great-martyr George the Trophy-bearer and the holy great-martyr Shalva of Akhaltsikhe; the holy great-martyr Bidzina and the holy glorious martyrs Shalva and Elizbar, eristavis of Ksani; the holy great virgin-martyrs Barbara and Marina; of our holy and venerable father John of Zedazeni and his twelve disciples, the second enlighteners of the Church of Georgia and her ever-protectors, and among the disciples our venerable father David of Gareja; of our holy and blessed fathers Lucian, Dodo, Damian, Onuphrius and Simeon of Gareja; of the holy priest-martyr Neophytus of Urbnisi and the holy great-martyr Abo of Tbilisi; of the God-wise and blessed fathers Hilarion the Georgian, Serapion of Zarzma and Gregory of Khandzta; of our venerable Athonite fathers John, Gabriel, John who was once Tornike, Euthymius and George; of the holy glorious martyrs David and Constantine, princes of Argveti; of our holy, pious and great kings Vakhtang Gorgasali, Ashot the Kuropalates, David the Builder and Solomon; of the holy and pious King Tamar; of the holy victorious kings and queens Archil, Luarsab, Demetrius, Shushanik and Ketevan; of the holy hundred thousand martyrs slain in Tbilisi by the Khwarezmians; of the holy six thousand martyred monks of Gareja; of holy Ilia the Righteous; of the holy and righteous parents of the Theotokos, Joachim and Anna; and of our father among the saints Spyridon the Wonderworker, Bishop of Trimythous, and of all Thy saints: we entreat Thee, O most merciful Lord, hearken to the supplication of us sinners, and have mercy on us.

Priest: Through the mercies and compassions and love for mankind of Thine Only-begotten Son, with whom Thou art blessed, together with Thine all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Choir: Amen.

Irmos: The command of the lawless tyrant made the furnace blaze more fiercely for the youths, but the God of all sprinkled the three singers with dew from heaven, He who is blessed unto the ages.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

In holiness thou didst pass through this life and becamest a feeder and helper of the destitute and the poor; and for love of the poor thou didst change a serpent into gold, O thou who art glorified by God, and didst give it to those who awaited help from thee.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

Through thy beneficent life thou wast filled with the divine Spirit, and thou didst strengthen the infirm by the grace of thy healings; now also cease not to intercede for us, O valiant Spyridon, and set us free from every sickness and pain.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Thou didst receive from on high the grace to trample down enemies visible and invisible, and thou swiftly helpest those possessed by unclean spirits; therefore look upon us, and by thine intercession drive away from us temptations and the assaults of demons.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Like an untended vine thou didst bring forth the cluster of life, O Mother of God, who hast given us to drink the wine that sanctifies and gladdens minds and dispels evil drunkenness.

Irmos: Of old in Babylon the fiery furnace was divided by God, for the Chaldeans were burned by its flame, while the youths, bedewed, said: Bless the Lord, all ye works of the Lord.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

When thou hadst finished thy course and passed over to God, the King, overcoming the laws of nature, kept thy holy body incorrupt for the confirmation of the Orthodox faith and as a sign of immortality.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

When thou wast lifted up from the flesh to God, thy Desire, thou didst not forsake those who hope in thee, but like a swift-winged eagle thou goest about the whole world, deliverest from temptations those in afflictions and bonds, and grantest healing to them that ask.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

O glorious wonder! With the lightning of thy signs thou shinest brighter than the sun, O all-blessed one: thou loosest the furnace of pains, comfortest the sorrowful, hast mercy on the destitute and makest the gifts of thy help shine upon all who entreat thee.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Heal the passions of my soul with sweetness, O all-hymned one; calm my life, enlighten my soul and guide me on the divine paths, O Lady, that I may ever bless thee.

Irmos: The Son of God appeared from the unoriginate Father and became incarnate of the Virgin for our deliverance; He enlightens the darkened and gathers the scattered into one, that we may magnify with faith her who bore Him.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

Thine incorrupt relics ungrudgingly pour forth true grace and mercy and rouse all to glorify God, who has justly glorified thee, O wise Spyridon, and honoured thee with wonderworking and a multitude of signs.

O holy great hierarch Spyridon, pray to God for us.

The city of Kerkyra shares its joy with the whole world, for there the holy shrine of thy relics is now treasured; and all who come to it with faith to kiss it obtain the good fulfilment of their petitions.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

O wondrous deed, which thy divine life has granted thee! For though dead, thou shinest as one living upon the whole earth more brightly than the orb of the sun, O thou blessed of God, and from thy shrine thou preachest Christ God.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

The great mystery of thy glorious giving birth amazes the angels, O thou who art full of grace; it wounds the choir of the saints with love and rouses the fathers to sing divinely to thee, the hope of the whole world.

It is truly meet that we should magnify thee, O Theotokos, who art ever-blessed and all-immaculate and the Mother of our God. Thee, more honourable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word, the only Theotokos, we magnify in song.

The priest censes.

Oh, how glorious is thy memory, O all-praised Spyridon! For through thy painted icons and when thou art remembered in prayers thou workest wonders, and thou becomest a fellow-carer and protector, on land and on the seas, of those far and near.

The multitude of thy wonders, like a river full of water, waters the ends of the earth and grants comfort and courage to them that hope in thee; therefore we eagerly hasten to thy beautiful church and the resting place of thy relics, that we who praise thee may draw healing.

To those in temptations thou art a ready helper, O Spyridon, chief of priests, and thou hast power to set us free from all passions and from the wiles of the enemy; now quench the counsels of the wicked raised against our people, and bring to weakness the tongues of the heretics by the power of Christ.

Thee, the herald of truth and the all-radiant luminary of the world, we adorn with praises, and we entreat Him who gave thee wondrous signs, that in temptations and in the furnace of afflictions He may sprinkle us too with the dew of thy grace, so that our heart may not be cold to hear divine teachings and to glorify and hymn God.

O valiant hierarch Spyridon, renowned in the contest, commend us to the protectress of our people, the Virgin Theotokos, that we may not become a reproach and a laughing-stock to our enemies, but, after the custom of the men of our fatherland, may sing to the undivided and unconfused Trinity with “Holy” and with “Alleluia”:

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (3 times) Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen. O Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. O Lord, deliver us and release us from our sins; O Master, pardon our iniquities; O Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name’s sake.

Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us; for, at a loss for any defence, this supplication do we sinners offer unto Thee as Master: have mercy on us.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

O Lord, have mercy on us, for we have put our trust in Thee; be not exceeding wroth with us, nor remember our iniquities; but look upon us now, as Thou art compassionate, and deliver us from Thy just wrath; for Thou art our God, and we are Thy people; we are all the work of Thy hands, and Thy name is called upon us; and have mercy on us.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Open unto us the doors of compassion, O blessed Theotokos, that hoping in thee we may not perish, but through thee be delivered from our adversaries, for thou art the salvation of the Christian race.

Priest: Have mercy on us, O God, according to Thy great mercy, we pray Thee, hearken and have mercy.

Choir: Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)

Priest: Again we pray for mercy, life, peace, health, long life, salvation, enlightenment, forgiveness, prosperity and quiet for the servant (or handmaid) of God, that the Lord our God may preserve this our royal city and this holy monastery (or church) and all the cities and villages of Iberia from famine, pestilence, earthquake, flood, fire, the sword, the invasion of foreigners, civil war and deadly plague; that God, in His goodness and love for mankind, may be merciful to us so that we may stand well, and may turn away from us the wrath that daily cometh upon us, and deliver us from His righteous judgement that is laid upon us, and have mercy on us.

Choir: Lord, have mercy. (40 times)

Priest: Hear us, O God our Saviour, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of them that are far off upon the sea; and be gracious, be merciful unto our sins, and have mercy on us; for Thou art a merciful God who lovest mankind, and unto Thee we send up glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages.

Choir: Amen.

Priest: Again and again, bending our knees, let us pray to the Lord.

Choir: Amen.

O all-sweet and merciful hierarch Spyridon, wonderworker of Trimythous! Look down with a merciful eye upon our people and entreat the all-good God not to be angry with us according to our iniquities, but to deal with us according to His mercy, and to grant us a peaceful and untroubled life, health of soul and body, and fruitfulness of the earth, and to save us all in well-being; that, guided and protected by thy prayer, we may attain that eternal peace and with thee glorify God who is glorified in Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Priest: Wisdom! O most holy Theotokos, save us.

Choir: More honourable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word, the true Theotokos, we magnify thee.

Priest: Glory to Thee, O Christ God, our hope, glory to Thee.

Choir: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen. Lord, have mercy. (3 times) Bless.

Priest: May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-incorrupt Mother, of the holy, glorious and all-praised apostles, (of the saint to whom the church is dedicated,) of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, of our father among the saints Spyridon the Wonderworker, Bishop of Trimythous, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, for He is good and loveth mankind.

Choir: Amen.

A layman: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)

O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Thine all-holy Mother, of our father among the saints Spyridon the Wonderworker, Bishop of Trimythous, and of all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

After the dismissal we say the troparia:

Thou shinest with light from on high, O father and chief shepherd Spyridon, and by divine power thou grantest healing of soul and body to everyone who kisses this icon of thy holiness and honours thy blessed shrine as a treasury that bears holy things, whence flows the divine river of healings and great mercy.

O Lady Mary, radiance of all the saints, through the prayers of the holy hierarch Spyridon, wonderworker of Trimythous, make me worthy of the eternal glory and radiance of thy Son and our God. Amen.
