Paraklesis to the Holy and Glorious Martyr Panteleimon, the Unmercenary Healer
Priest: Blessed is our God…
And we: Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.
O Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, who art everywhere present and fillest all things with Thy grace, Treasury of good things and Giver of life: come and abide in us, and cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O Good One.
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Thrice)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
O Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. O Lord, deliver us and release us from our sins; O Master, pardon our iniquities; O Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name’s sake.
Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Priest: For Thine is the kingdom…
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
O come, let us worship God our King. O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ, our King and God. O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and our God.
O Lord, attend to my prayer: hearken to my supplication in thy truth; hear me in thy righteousness. And enter not into judgment with thy servant, for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has brought my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in a dark place, as those that have been long dead. Therefore my spirit was grieved in me; my heart was troubled within me. I remembered the days of old; and I meditated on all thy doings: yea, I meditated on the works of thine hands. I spread forth my hands to thee; my soul thirsts for thee, as a dry land. Pause. Hear me speedily, O Lord; my spirit has failed; turn not away thy face from me, else I shall be like to them that go down to the pit. Cause me to hear thy mercy in the morning; for I have hoped in thee; make known to me, O Lord, the way wherein I should walk; for I have lifted up my soul to thee. Deliver me from mine enemies, O Lord; for I have fled to thee for refuge. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God; thy good Spirit shall guide me in the straight way. Thou shalt quicken me, O Lord, for thy name's sake; in thy righteousness thou shalt bring my soul out of affliction. And in thy mercy thou wilt destroy mine enemies, and wilt destroy all those that afflict my soul; for I am thy servant.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, O God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, O God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.
God is the Lord and hath appeared unto us; blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord. Verse 1: O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever. Verse 2: All the nations compassed me about, and in the name of the Lord I withstood them. Verse 3: I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Verse 4: The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner; this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes.
After this, the troparion:
O holy passion-bearer, great-martyr and healer Panteleimon, entreat the merciful God to grant us forgiveness of sins and great mercy to our souls.
Glory… The same. Both now…
We will never cease, O Theotokos, we the unworthy, from speaking of thy mighty acts; for hadst thou not stood before us to intercede, who would have delivered us from so many dangers? And who would have kept us free until now? We will not depart from thee, O Lady, for thou ever savest thy servants from all misfortunes.
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy great mercy; and according to the multitude of thy compassions blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I am conscious of mine iniquity; and my sin is continually before me. Against thee only have I sinned, and done evil before thee: that thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. For, behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother conceive me. For, behold, thou lovest truth: thou hast manifested to me the secret and hidden things of thy wisdom. Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be purified: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow. Thou shalt cause me to hear gladness and joy: the afflicted bones shall rejoice. Turn away thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit in my inward parts. Cast me not away from thy presence; and remove not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of thy salvation: establish me with thy directing Spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and ungodly men shall turn to thee. Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation: and my tongue shall joyfully declare thy righteousness. O Lord, thou shalt open my lips; and my mouth shall declare thy praise. For if thou desiredst sacrifice, I would have given it: thou wilt not take pleasure in whole-burnt-offerings. Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit: a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, to Sion in thy good pleasure; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then shalt thou be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, offering, and whole-burnt-sacrifices: then shall they offer calves upon thine altar.
Irmos: The wonder-working rod of Moses of old, striking in the form of the Cross and dividing the Red Sea, drowned Pharaoh the charioteer and saved Israel, who fled across on foot singing a song to the Lord, for He hath been gloriously glorified.
O holy great-martyr and healer Panteleimon, pray to God for us.
Sweetness and the mercy of all mercy thou didst receive from on high, according to thy name, O valiant Panteleimon; therefore we entreat thee: look upon me with sweetness and strengthen me to thy glory, and make me worthy to sing thy great wonders.
O holy great-martyr and healer Panteleimon, pray to God for us.

With wisdom thou didst love glorious godliness, O God-bearing one, and by thy godly-wise teaching thou didst cleanse away thy father’s ungodliness and draw him to the faith of Christ by working wondrous signs, O gloriously glorified one.
Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
From barren parents without child the Husbandman of souls made thee spring forth as a beautiful fruit, O all-glorious Virgin, the throne of His royal radiance and a dwelling higher than the heavens; and from thee came forth perfect God and perfect man.

O holy great-martyr and healer Panteleimon, pray to God for us.
Through the beauty of thy body, the goodness of thy virtues and the radiance of divine graces thou didst show forth a holiness of soul more beautiful still, and thou didst shine in both, beyond understanding and speech.
O holy great-martyr and healer Panteleimon, pray to God for us.
With wise discernment thou didst judge and understand both error and the knowledge of God; thou didst join thyself to the light and cast away the gloomy darkness, for instead of the worse thou didst choose the better.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
By wisely found examples and persuading words thou didst put to shame the father of lies, and didst render due honour to the holy font, to thy teacher and to thy father, O blessed one.
Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
From my countless evils, which I commit day by day, deliver me by thine intercession, O Virgin; for thou art the hope of the guilty and the despairing and their advocate before Christ the Deliverer.

Irmos: Thou art my strength, O Lord, Thou art my power, Thou art my God, Thou art my joy, who didst not leave the bosom of the Father and didst visit our poverty; therefore with the prophet Habakkuk I cry to Thee: Glory to Thy power, O Lover of mankind.
O holy great-martyr and healer Panteleimon, pray to God for us.
The grace of the almighty Holy Spirit came to dwell in thee; it strengthened thy weakness and made thee renowned in deed and word, O God-bearing one, so that thou didst astonish every mind and understanding; for by working signs and wonders thou didst convert many.
O holy great-martyr and healer Panteleimon, pray to God for us.
Thou didst find the venerable Hermolaus as thy Paul, O blessed martyr of Christ; through him the lofty and ineffable mysteries were made known to thee, and by them thou didst learn the radiant rule of godliness; and thenceforth thou becamest a God-taught teacher and didst add a chosen people to the King, O Panteleimon.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Thou didst bravely engage in the contests of martyrdom, O venerable Panteleimon, fenced about by divine power, and didst endure bitter torments, O glorious one, with unconquerable patience and firmness of mind, eagerly crying: Glory to Thy power, O Lover of mankind.
Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

The comeliness of thy body thou didst adorn with the beauty of thy soul, and again the brightness of thy soul thou didst adorn brilliantly with the light of great virtues and struggles, O glorious one, and thou becamest a temple of the Holy Spirit.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
By the net of negligence and the bonds of our stubbornness I am dragged down into the depths of sin, most wretched as I am; but as the Mother of the Saviour of all, guide me to repentance and to life.
Irmos: I will pour out my prayer unto the Lord and ever confess my sins, for my soul is filled with evils and my strength hath drawn near to hell; and like Jonah I cry: Bring me up, O my God.
O holy great-martyr and healer Panteleimon, pray to God for us.

Filled with God-befitting wisdom, thou didst drive away the darkness of ungodliness and the gloom of error by thy word as thou didst contend with the lawless, and thou didst undo their disorderly disputing by the witness of deeds, O Panteleimon.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Thy holy soul received the seed of the word as fruitful ground and brought forth fruit that nourishes souls, O wise one, confounding the evil tares; and it offered to Christ the hundredfold fruit of immortality, the crown of the virtues.
Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
When the Word of the Lord became man and was born in the flesh of the Virgin, all things were made new; the earthborn truly became gods, the curse was changed into blessing, the serpent that deceived was slain, and the tyranny of death was brought to nothing.
Deliver thy servants from dangers, O most holy Virgin Theotokos, for after God we all flee unto thee, as to an unbreakable wall and protection.
Look down with favour upon us, O all-praised Theotokos, and heal the grievous wounds of our bodies and the sicknesses of our souls.
Priest: Again and again…
Exclamation: For Thou art the King of peace and the Saviour of our souls, O Christ our God, and unto Thee we send up glory…
Having become an imitator of the Merciful One, thou didst receive from Him the grace of healings, O passion-bearer and martyr of Christ God; by thy prayers heal the sicknesses of our souls, ever driving away the temptations of the adversary from us who cry with faith: Save us, O Lord.
Let us attend. Wisdom.
The righteous shall be glad in the Lord and shall hope in Him, and all the upright in heart shall be praised. Verse: Hear my voice, O God, when I pray unto Thee; deliver my soul from fear of the enemy.
Let us pray to the Lord. For holy art Thou, O our God… Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Verse: Praise God in His saints; praise Him in the firmament of His power. And that He may make us worthy… Wisdom! Aright!…
The Lord said to His disciples: There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. And I say unto you My friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear Him, which after He hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear Him. Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess Me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: but he that denieth Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven. And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

O holy great-martyr and healer Panteleimon, pray to God for us.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
By prayer thou didst slay the venomous viper and stop the mouths of lions, and eagerly didst pass through fire and water, O invincible martyr; and, being perfected by the sword, thou didst come to stand before Christ, and thou reignest for ever with the assembly of the bodiless.
Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
The horn of fallen Adam was exalted through thy giving birth to God the Word, who disdained not our lowliness and restored our first nobility to us who were brought low to the earth; therefore we call thee blessed as the cause of our life, O Mother of God.
It is truly meet to bless thee, O Theotokos, ever-blessed and all-spotless, and the Mother of our God. More honourable than the Cherubim and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word, the very Theotokos, thee do we magnify.

Priest: The prayer of dismissal.
The all-glorious memory of the martyr of Christ hath dawned today, O ye people, and calleth the assembly of the faithful to a mystical supper; it prepareth a radiant gathering and entertaineth it. By his contest the great unmercenary physician hath shone forth, the valiant and divine champion Panteleimon, who richly healeth the pains and sicknesses of all. Come, let us hasten and sing of his invincible struggles, for he laboureth fervently for us before God and entreateth Him to grant great mercy to our souls.
