Paraklesis from Pascha until Thomas Sunday, that is, in Bright Week

Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life. (Thrice)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Mary and those with her came before the dawn and found the stone rolled away, and heard from the angel the longed-for voice: Why seek ye among the dead, as a man, Him who abideth in everlasting light? Behold the grave-clothes, and proclaim to all the world that our Deliverer hath slain death and is risen in glory, for He is the Son of God and the Saviour of the race of men.

(If you wish to add or insert the paraklesis of some saint, in that case the troparion of the saint is first said once, then Glory… Both now… and “Before the dawn Mary came…” in full.)

It is the day of Resurrection; let us be radiant, O ye people. Pascha, the Lord’s Pascha! For from death to life, and from earth to heaven, hath Christ God brought us, as we sing the hymn of victory. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead. (Only these words are said, not the whole troparion.)

Let us purify our senses, and we shall behold Christ, radiant with the unapproachable light of the Resurrection, and we shall clearly hear Him say, “Rejoice!”, as we sing the hymn of victory. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

Let the heavens, as is meet, be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let the whole world, both visible and invisible, keep the feast; for Christ is risen, our everlasting joy. (Twice)

(Whoever wishes to insert the paraklesis of some saint should insert here, and after every irmos and troparia, the corresponding hymn of the saint in four verses.)

Come, let us drink a new drink, not one wondrously brought forth from a barren rock, but the Fountain of incorruption springing forth from the tomb of Christ, in whom we are established. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

Now are all things filled with light, heaven and earth and the nethermost regions; so let all creation celebrate the arising of Christ, in whom it is established. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

Yesterday I was crucified with Thee, O Christ; today I arise with Thee in Thine arising. Yesterday I was buried with Thee; do Thou Thyself glorify me with Thee, O Saviour, in Thy kingdom. (Twice)

Deliver thy servants from dangers, O most holy Theotokos, for after God we all flee unto thee, as to an unbreakable wall and protection.

Look upon us, O all-praised Theotokos, and heal the grievous wounds of our bodies and the sicknesses of our souls.

Lord, have mercy. (15 times)

Upon the divine watch let Habakkuk, the speaker of God, stand with us and show forth the light-bearing angel, who clearly proclaimeth: Today is salvation come to the world, for Christ is risen as almighty. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

As a male, having opened the virgin womb, Christ appeared; as a man, He is called a Lamb; without blemish is our Pascha, for He tasted no defilement; and as true God, He is called perfect. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

Like a yearling lamb, Christ, the crown we bless, was willingly sacrificed for all, a Pascha of cleansing; and again from the tomb the beautiful Sun of righteousness hath shone upon us. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

David, the forefather of God, danced leaping before the shadowy Ark; and we, the holy people of God, beholding the fulfilment of the figures, rejoice in godly manner, for Christ is risen as almighty. (Twice)

Let us arise in the deep dawn, and instead of myrrh offer a hymn to the Master; and we shall see Christ, the Sun of righteousness, who causeth life to dawn for all. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

Beholding Thy boundless compassion, they that were held by the bonds of hades hastened towards the light, O Christ, with joyful feet, praising the eternal Pascha. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

Let us go forth, bearing lamps, to meet Christ as He cometh forth from the tomb like a bridegroom; and with the festive ranks let us keep God’s saving Pascha. (Twice)

Thou didst descend into the nethermost parts of the earth, and didst shatter the everlasting bars which held those who were bound, O Christ; and on the third day, as Jonah from the whale, Thou didst arise from the tomb. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

Keeping the seals intact, O Christ, Thou didst arise from the tomb, Thou who didst not harm the keys of the Virgin in Thy birth; and Thou hast opened unto us the gates of paradise. (Twice)

Christ is risen from the dead.

O my Saviour, the living and unslain Sacrifice, as God Thou didst willingly offer Thyself to the Father; and rising from the tomb, Thou didst raise up with Thyself Adam and all his race.

(Thrice)

Though of Thine own will Thou didst go down into the tomb, O Immortal One, yet Thou didst destroy the power of hell and didst arise as victor, O Christ God, granting good tidings to the myrrh-bearing women and bestowing peace on the apostles, Thou who givest resurrection to the fallen.

The myrrh-bearing maidens forestalled the dawn and sought, as one seeketh the day, the Sun who was before the sun and who had once set in the tomb; and they cried to one another: O friends, come, let us anoint with spices the life-bearing and buried Body, the flesh that raised up fallen Adam, which now lieth in the tomb. Let us go, let us hasten like the Magi, and let us worship and offer myrrh as gifts to Him who is wrapped not in swaddling-clothes but in a winding-sheet; and let us weep and cry: O Master, arise, Thou who grantest resurrection to the fallen.

This is the day which the Lord hath made; let us exult and rejoice therein.

O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.

Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)

At that time, when Jesus was risen from the dead, He stood in the midst of His disciples, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And He said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself: handle Me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see Me have. And when He had thus spoken, He shewed them His hands and His feet. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, He said unto them, Have ye here any meat? And they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And He took it, and did eat before them. And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me. Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. And He led them out as far as to Bethany, and He lifted up His hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while He blessed them, He was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. And they worshipped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

(After this, if you are praying the paraklesis of a saint, read the Gospel of the saint as well.)
