Prayer for the Sick

Thou alone art a speedy helper, O Christ: swiftly show from heaven Thy protection upon Thy suffering servant, and deliver him from sicknesses and bitter pains, and raise him up to praise Thee and glorify Thee for ever, through the intercessions of the Theotokos, O only Lover of mankind.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As once Thou didst raise up, O Saviour, Peter’s mother-in-law lying on the bed of pain, and the paralytic carried on his bed, so now also, O Merciful One, look upon this sufferer, lying sick and wounded unto death, and heal him; for Thou alone hast borne the infirmities, pains and sicknesses of our race, and canst do all things, as Thou art most merciful.

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O Master Almighty, Physician of our souls and bodies, who humblest and exaltest, who woundest and healest again: look in Thy mercy upon these our sick brethren; stretch out Thine invisible right hand, full of relief and healing. Heal these Thy servants (names), raise them up from their bed of sickness, rebuke the spirit of infirmity, and remove from them every wound, every pain, every blow and every fever or chill; and whatever faults or iniquities are theirs, forgive, remit and pardon them for Thy love for mankind. Yea, O Lord, have mercy on these Thy creatures through Christ Jesus our Lord, to whom be glory, together with the all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
