Prayer before Meals

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

O Virgin Theotokos, rejoice, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Saviour of our souls.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)

O Heavenly King, bless us.

(And make the sign of the Cross over the food and drink)

We thank Thee, O Christ our God, that Thou hast filled us with Thine earthly good things; deprive us not also of Thy heavenly kingdom, but as Thou camest among Thy disciples, O Saviour, and gavest them peace, come also to us and save us. Amen.

It is truly meet that we should magnify thee, O Theotokos, who art ever-blessed and all-immaculate and the Mother of our God. Thee, more honourable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word, the only Theotokos, we magnify in song. Prayer of St John Chrysostom after Meals

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)

O Heavenly King, bless us.

Blessed art Thou, O God, who hast nourished me from my youth, who givest food to all flesh. Fill our hearts with joy and gladness, that, always having all sufficiency in all things, we may abound unto every good work, in Christ Jesus our Lord, with whom to Thee be glory, honour and might, together with the Holy Spirit, unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Glory to Thee, O Lord; glory to Thee, O Holy One; glory to Thee, O King, for Thou hast given us food for nourishment and strength. We pray Thee, fill us with the Holy Spirit, that we may be found well-pleasing before Thee and not put to shame, when Thou shalt render to every man according to his deeds.
