Prayers of St John Chrysostom, to Be Read Morning and Evening
O Lord, deprive me not of Thy heavenly good things, nor leave me in want of them.
O Lord, deliver me from eternal torments and from the dread fire of Gehenna.
O Lord, if I have sinned against Thee in my mind, or in my thoughts, or in word, have mercy on me and forgive me.
O Lord, uproot from me all ignorance, forgetfulness, faint-heartedness and stony insensibility.
O Lord, deliver me from every temptation and from many afflictions.
O Lord, enlighten my heart, darkened by all the foul and lightless passions.
O Lord, if as a man I have sinned, do Thou, as God rich in mercy, make Thy mercy abound, for Thou knowest the weakness of my soul, O Mighty One.
O Lord, send down Thy grace upon me, that I may glorify Thy holy name and praise Thee, O All-good, always and unceasingly.
O Lord, write me, Thy servant, in the book of life, and grant me a good end.
O Lord my God, I have done nothing good before Thee, but by Thy grace make me worthy to make a good beginning of every work.
O Lord, sprinkle the dew of Thy grace upon my withered heart, and water me.
O Lord, King of heaven and earth, remember me, Thine unclean servant, in Thy kingdom. Amen.
O Lord, receive me in repentance. O Lord, forsake me not.
O Lord, lead me not into temptation, and give me not over to grievous and merciless misfortune.
O Lord, grant me always good thoughts, well-pleasing to Thee.
O Lord, grant me streams of tears, unforgetting remembrance of death, and softness of heart, that I may be moved to compunction.
O Lord, grant me a good disposition, that I may confess my sins before Thee.
O Lord, grant me humility, obedience and innocence, that I may walk in Thy righteousness.
O Lord, grant me patience, long-suffering and peace for my soul.
O Lord, plant in my soul the fountain of virtues, and enlarge Thy fear in my heart.
O Lord, make me worthy to love Thee with all my soul and with all my mind, and in all things to do Thy will.
O Lord, shelter me from evil men and crafty demons, from foul passions, and from everything else that is unseemly and unprofitable.
O Lord, I know that Thou doest as Thou willest; therefore let Thy will be done in me a sinner, for blessed art Thou, now and ever, and unto the ages. Amen.
