On Desires
As a lot of wood kindles a fire, so much eating and drinking kindles evil desire.
You will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven unless you become master of your own desires and thoughts.
The devil has no way into a soul that feeds no passion. Such a soul is full of light, and the devil cannot look at it. When the soul allows a passion to stir and consents to it, it grows dark. The devil sees this, comes near and begins to rule over it. The soul is troubled chiefly by two movements — fornication and anger.
