Prayer against Evil Thoughts, on Saturday Morning

O beloved friend of Christ, loved above the angels, loud-voiced herald of theology, made worthy to be son of the holy Virgin, brother and companion of Christ, foundation of divine teaching, voice of the Word of God, son of thunder, who didst lean upon His breast, all-wise and blessed John, herald of the Trinity! Ask of Christ for us forgiveness of sins and deliverance from temptations; drive away from us our invisible enemies, as thou didst drive away the sorcerer Kynops; for to Him whom thou didst preach is due glory, honour and worship, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O Lord! Whatever I have sinned this day, whether in word, or deed, or thought, or with all my senses, or knowingly and with understanding, forgive me for Thy holy name’s sake, and grant me this sleep in peace, and send down Thy holy angel to guard me from defilement of body and soul, and from every blow of the crooked and apostate serpent and of his dark and unclean powers, by Thy grace and love for mankind; for Thou art blessed, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
