Prayer against Evil Thoughts, on Friday Morning

Get thee behind me, Satan! I will worship the Lord my God, and Him only will I serve. And may thy pain and thy wrath return upon thine own head, and thy blasphemy come down upon thine own pate, in this present time and in the abyss of the age to come. What hast thou to do with us, O stranger to God, fugitive from heaven, evil and apostate slave? Thou hast no dominion over us; Christ the Son of God hath dominion over us: against Him have we sinned, and to Him shall we give account. But flee from me, destroyer and hostile enemy of all truth and righteousness, dweller in Gehenna and every torment! We have the precious Cross as our strength, and by it we trample upon thy serpent’s head, in the name of the consubstantial Holy Trinity, through the intercessions of the most holy Theotokos and the protection of the holy Archangel Michael; for to Him is due all glory, honour and worship, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Glory to Thee, O Christ our God, who wast before the ages and art unto the ages, and hast no end; who for our sake didst take upon Thyself crucifixion and death, O Good One and Lover of mankind! O long-suffering and most merciful One, have mercy on me, this sinner, and be not angry with me, O Master; for the very deeds for which I ask Thy forgiveness, into them I fall again without ceasing. And I know, O Lord, that had not Thy boundless goodness and love for mankind made Thee merciful towards me, there is no torment Thou wouldest not have brought upon me, and Thou wouldest have commanded the earth to swallow me up! But Thou art long-suffering, O Lord, towards me, who am self-condemned and unable even to give an answer. Glory to Thee, O Good One and most merciful! Now I pray Thee: have mercy on me, O Saviour and Lover of mankind; have mercy on me, who am liable to every torment; and forgive me all my sins, all that I have committed from my mother’s womb until now, by night and by day, knowingly and in ignorance, willingly and unwillingly, all my faults, open and hidden, visible and invisible, all that I have sinned with eye and tongue, with hearing and smell, with touch and with walking: forgive all, for Thy holy name’s sake! O Lord, good and loving mankind, long-suffering, sweet and most merciful, whatever I have sinned against Thee in deed, word, mind, thought and imagination, forgive me, O Lord; forgive me, O Good One; forgive me, O Lover of mankind; forgive me, O long-suffering and most merciful, Christ our God, through the intercession of Thy boundless mercy and sweetness, and of all Thy saints; for Thou art a good God and the Lover of mankind, long-suffering, most merciful and compassionate, and to Thee is due all glory, honour and worship, together with the unoriginate Father and the all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
