Prayer against Evil Thoughts, on Thursday Morning

O Lord God Almighty, Knower of hearts and Ruler of thoughts, who holdest seas and dry lands, cities and rivers for the race of men that falleth down before Thee! O Lord Jesus Christ, God, Son and Word of the living God, true Lamb and Shepherd, who takest away the sins of the world: do Thou, O Good One, calm the waves and storms of this my heart, and the burnings and stirrings of my flesh sent by the invisible enemies; and as Thou didst calm and still the storm of the sea, and silence the fierce winds, and save Thy disciples from drowning, so also, O Master, look upon me Thy servant and deliver me from the burning of my unbending flesh! Turn back this terrible desire that destroyeth my soul and body! Make me diligent to remember at this hour Thy crucifixion, the blood and water that poured from Thy side, and also that dread day of judgement; and deliver me from these passions, through the intercessions of the most holy Theotokos, of the life-giving Cross, and of all Thy saints. Amen.

Grant us, O Master, Lord our God, through the intercessions of Thy holy Apostles, a sleep of peace and rest of soul and body! And keep me from every temptation of the night and from evil darkness: calm the stirrings of the passions, quench the heat of the flesh, and grant me pure thoughts and a blameless way of life, and glorification with hymns all the night long, that, kept wholly by Thy power, we may offer glory to Thee, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, unto the ages of ages. Amen.
