Hieromartyr Hierotheus, Bishop of Athens (I)

The Hieromartyr Hierotheus, bishop of Athens, was a member of the Areopagus of Athens. The Apostle Paul converted him to Christianity together with Dionysius the Areopagite (commemorated 3 October and 4 January), and afterwards consecrated him bishop as well. According to tradition, Hierotheus and Saint Dionysius were present at the burial of the All-holy Mother of God. The blessed father died as a martyr in the first century.
