Holy Confessor Theodore of Antioch (IV)
The holy Confessor Theodore of Antioch, a youth of fifteen, was cruelly tortured for confessing Christ in the reign of the Emperor Julian the Apostate (361–363). The executioners were terrified that the saint rejoiced during the torture, but felt pain when it stopped. They reported this miracle to the emperor, who ordered the martyr to be released. Later the blessed Theodore told how, when he was being tortured, an angel of the Lord appeared to him and eased his torments, but after the torture the angel vanished, and he suffered from the pain. The saint lived to a deep old age and committed his soul to the Lord in peace.
