St Sabinus, Archbishop of Cyprus
Saint Sabinus, Archbishop of Cyprus (V), was born in the Phoenician city of Lycia. When he heard of the labours of the Venerable Epiphanius of Cyprus, Sabinus went to him and was tonsured a monk. For five years he laboured in the desert with Saint Epiphanius, and later he wrote his life. When Epiphanius was chosen for the see of Cyprus, he ordained Saint Sabinus priest. After the death of his spiritual father Saint Sabinus was chosen hierarch of Cyprus. Until his death the saint devotedly defended the holy Church against the heretics.
