Holy Martyr Sabinus (+287)
The holy Martyr Sabinus (+287) was the governor of the Egyptian city of Hermopolis. During the persecution of Christians by the Emperor Diocletian, Sabinus hid with his fellow strugglers in a remote village. His hiding place was betrayed for two gold coins by an ungrateful beggar whom the saint had always helped. Sabinus was seized together with six other Christians and, after torture, drowned in the Nile.
