Venerable Publius the Syrian (+380)
The Venerable Publius the Syrian was born in the city of Zeugma on the River Euphrates. He carried out the duties of a senator, but afterwards renounced this world, gave away his property as alms and took the monastic habit. The saint shut himself up in a cave in the Syrian desert, where he founded two monasteries: one for Greeks and the other for Syrians. He died in 380.
