Martyr Pansophius (+249–251)
The Venerable Martyr Pansophius was the son of Nilus, a proconsul of Alexandria. After his father’s death he distributed all his property to the poor and went into the desert, where he laboured for twenty-seven years. During the persecution under Decius (249–251) the Venerable Pansophius was brought to the prefect of Alexandria to be tried. The saint courageously confessed Christ and denounced the godlessness of the pagans, for which he was beaten to death with rods. The holy martyr met his end around 249–251.
