Venerable Martyr Euthymius, Abbot of the Vatopedi Monastery, and Twelve Monks with Him (+1275–1281)

The Venerable Martyr Euthymius, abbot of the Vatopedi monastery, and the twelve monks with him laboured on Mount Athos in the thirteenth century. They fearlessly denounced the Emperor Michael Palaeologus (1261–1281) and the Patriarch John Bekkos (1275–1282), who were inclined to the Latin heresy, for which they were put to death: the abbot was drowned in the sea, and the monks were hanged.
