The Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos. On the day after the Nativity of Christ the Church calls her faithful children to glorify with thanksgiving “the Mother of the Lamb and the Shepherd”, “the opener of the gates of paradise”, the Most Holy Virgin Mary. That is why this feast is called “the Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos”.
