Venerable Daniel the Confessor (X)

The Venerable Daniel the Confessor (in the schema Stephen), a Spanish nobleman, was ruler of the island of Nibert. For the love of Christ he left worldly glory and was tonsured a monk in Rome. The saint first went on pilgrimage to Constantinople, and then to Jerusalem.

In Egypt the blessed Daniel was seized by the Saracens, who demanded that he accept Islam. When they received a refusal in answer, the lawless ones tortured him to death (X).
