Holy Martyrs Paramon and the 370 Others with Him (+250)

The holy Martyr Paramon and the three hundred and seventy others with him died for Christ in 250, in the reign of the Emperor Decius (249–251). Aquilinus, the governor of Bithynia (Asia Minor), had three hundred and seventy Orthodox believers seized and tried by torture to force them to offer sacrifice to the idols. When he saw the sufferings of the Christians, a local inhabitant, the nobleman Paramon, cried out: “How many innocent people are perishing because they do not worship lifeless idols!” For this he too was seized; they pierced his tongue, slashed his body with swords, and at last beheaded him together with the other three hundred and seventy martyrs.
