Hieromartyrs Nerses the Bishop and Joseph His Disciple; John, Saberius, Isaac and Hypatius, Bishops of Persia; and the Martyrs Azades the Eunuch, Sasson, Thecla, Anna and Many Other Fathers and Mothers Martyred in Persia (+343)
The Hieromartyrs Nerses the Bishop and Joseph his disciple; John, Saberius, Isaac and Hypatius, bishops of Persia; and the holy Martyrs Azades, Sasson, Thecla, Anna and many other fathers and mothers martyred in Persia met their end during the persecution of the Christians by the Persian King Shapur II.
The godless beheaded the eighty-year-old hierarch Nerses and his disciple Joseph, and stoned the Bishops John, Isaac and Hypatius. The hierarch Saberius died in prison, and he was beheaded when already dead. The holy Martyr Azades the eunuch was strangled by an apostate presbyter. The Martyrs Sasson, Thecla, Anna and many other Orthodox believers endured torments and death for Christ. The lawless ones beheaded them (+343).
