Holy Martyrs Severus, Memnon and the Thirty-seven Martyrs with Them (+304)

The holy Martyrs Severus, Memnon and thirty-seven martyrs with them died in Philippopolis in Thrace in the time of the Emperor Diocletian (284–305). For boldly confessing the faith of Christ Saint Severus was terribly tortured and at last beheaded. When the governor learned that Saint Severus had converted the centurion Memnon to Christianity, he handed him over to torture too. Together with him thirty-seven more Christians suffered. All of them had their hands and feet cut off and were thrown into a red-hot furnace (+304).
