Holy Martyr Antonina (+284–305)
The holy Martyr Antonina (+c. 284–305) suffered in the city of Nicaea in the time of the Emperor Diocletian (284–305). The tormentors tried with a thousand torments to bend her: they burned her over a flame, threw her onto a red-hot pan, then pierced her hands and feet with hot skewers and threw her into a dungeon, where she suffered for two years. Torture could not bend Antonina’s valiant spirit: at last the holy martyr was thrown into the sea.
