Venerable Naucratius (+848)
The Venerable Naucratius was a disciple of Saint Theodore the Studite (commemorated 11 November). For his courageous confession of Orthodoxy and his veneration of the holy icons the blessed father endured persecution and oppression from the iconoclasts. After this heresy was condemned, Patriarch Methodius recalled him from exile and made him abbot of the monastery of Studios. The saint died in 848.
