Holy Martyrs Marcian, Nicander, Hyperechius, Apollonius, Leonides, Arius, George, Selinus, Irenaeus and Pambo (IV)

The holy Martyrs Marcian, Nicander, Hyperechius, Apollonius, Leonides, Arius, George, Selinus, Irenaeus and Pambo (IV) were Egyptians. In the time of the Emperor Maximian (305–311) they were cruelly tortured for courageously confessing Christ. The half-dead martyrs were thrown into prison. There an angel of the Lord appeared to them and healed them of their wounds. This miracle converted many pagans to the law of Christ. Worn out by hunger and thirst, the saints died in prison.
