Venerable Zosimas of Egypt, Bishop of Babylon (VI)
The holy Martyr Zosimas of Egypt, Bishop of Babylon (VI), was born in Cyriacia (Asia Minor). While still young he withdrew from the world and settled on Mount Sinai, and then made for a place more suited to solitude, Libya. There he met a monk who foretold that he would become Bishop of Babylon. When Zosimas returned to Mount Sinai, the abbot sent him to Alexandria on business of the monastery, and the Patriarch of Alexandria made the saint Bishop of Babylon. The venerable father Zosimas of Egypt governed his flock wisely until deep old age. At last, when he felt that his death was near, he returned to Sinai and reposed there in peace.
