Holy Martyrs Frontasius, Severinus, Severian and Silanus (I)
The holy Martyrs Frontasius, Severinus, Severian and Silanus (I) met their end for Christ in the time of the Emperor Claudius (41–54). They were sent by Fronto, Bishop of Petragoria, to preach the word of God in southern Gaul (present-day France). The pagan governor of this region, Squirio, seized the saints and demanded that they deny Christ. The savage Squirio ordered the confessors to be led out of the city, nailed to stakes, and nails driven into their heads like a crown of thorns, after which they were beheaded.
