Venerable Sophronius (+1510)
The Venerable Sophronius (in the world Stephen) was born in the Bulgarian village of Penkovets. He was tonsured a monk in a monastery near the bank of the river Danube, and pleased the Lord by unceasing fasting, prayer and vigils. The blessed father was killed by his own servant in 1510. Three years later the saint’s incorrupt relics were uncovered, and his life was written.
