Holy Hieromartyr Zacharias, Bishop of Corinth (+1684)
In 1684 the Turks slandered the holy Hieromartyr Zacharias, Bishop of Corinth: they accused him of corresponding with the French, beat him cruelly, and brought him to court. Without any interrogation the judge offered him to accept Islam. On receiving his refusal they tortured the hierarch again and threw him into prison. On the third Sunday of Great Lent, after the feast of the Veneration of the Cross, Saint Zacharias was beheaded.
