Venerable John the Silent (+558)

The Venerable John the Silent (+558) was bishop of the city of Colonia. Harassed by the governor of the city, the hierarch was deprived of his see. The venerable father went to the monastery of Saint Sabbas the Sanctified, where he laboured in silence, fasting and seclusion until the end of his life. The venerable father reposed at the age of 104.
