Venerable Stephen (IV)

The Venerable Stephen, a former courtier of the Emperor Maurice (582–602), left his service, founded shelters for the infirm in Armatia (Constantinople), and devoted himself wholly to receiving strangers. The saint reposed in peace at the age of sixty-one.
