Venerable Martyr Damian (+1568)
The Venerable Damian was a silent monk who laboured on Athos, in one of the sketes of the Esphigmenou monastery. The blessed father felt a great spiritual closeness to Saint Cosmas of Zographou (commemorated 22 September) and was friends with him. The Lord glorified the father, who was distinguished by obedience: after his repose his body gave forth fragrance for forty days (+1568).
