Holy Martyr Julian (+312)
The holy Martyr Julian was from the Phoenician city of Emesa. He suffered in 312, in the reign of the Emperor Maximian. Julian was a skilled physician; he healed the sick in body and in soul, and converted many to the Christian faith.
When the holy martyrs, the bishop Silvanus, the deacon Luke and Mocius the reader (commemorated 29 January), were being led out to be torn by wild beasts, Julian encouraged and strengthened them, for which he was seized, shut up in a narrow cleft, and killed by having long nails driven into his hands and feet.
