St Paula the Widow (+404)
Saint Paula the widow was the daughter of rich and noble Romans. After her husband’s death she took up works of charity. In 385 the holy woman set out with her daughter for the East. Near Jerusalem she built a shelter for the infirm and a monastery for men, and in Bethlehem a convent, where she died in 404.
