Description
The pyx holds the greatest Christian treasure, the Body and Blood of Christ, so clergy wear it on the breast with special reverence; this model has a metal chain for that purpose. Inside is everything needed for Communion: a box for the Body of Christ, a spoon and a small chalice. Being light, the pyx is also easy to carry.
The lid of the nickel- and silver-plated pyx is decorated with coloured enamel. At the centre is a burgundy cross with Jesus Christ crucified, and the figures of the Mother of God and St John the Theologian stand out against a blue sky.
