Description
The “Seven Arrows” icon was painted about 600 years ago by an unknown northern iconographer. It is a rare icon that shows the Mother of God without the Child in her arms. Seven arrows pierce Mary's breast, conveying the pain she suffered at the crucifixion of her Son. “Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,” wrote the Evangelist Luke.
This “Seven Arrows” icon of the Mother of God in a moulded frame makes a fine addition to a home icon corner.
