"Shortly before this, the monastery in which the icon of the Lady dwells will be shaken. The insensible earth will feel that it awaits separation from its Protectress, from Her who guards it to this day. Then an earthquake will shake the planted trees, and they will all be laid upon the ground — or more precisely, they will be uprooted and fall prostrate upon the earth in worship of the Lady. A terrible roar will envelop Athos, and a piercing sound will be heard. When the icon of the Lady prepares to depart, this will be a sign foretelling dreadful things." This is an excerpt from a book recently printed by the publishing house 'Alilo'. The excerpt recounts the prophecy of the holy father Silouan of Athos concerning the time when the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God will leave Athos. Saint Silouan of Athos is one of the greatest fathers and prophets of the last times, and this two-volume work portraying his life and labors will, we believe, be a great acquisition for the Orthodox flock.
