The Patriarchate's publishing house "Alilo" presents to readers a translation of the well-known book by Saint Theophan the Recluse, "Thoughts for Every Day of the Year". This book was first published on Mount Athos in 1881, and readers' interest in it has not waned since then.
The book conveys the remarkable journey of a great Christian thinker's engagement with Holy Scripture. Saint Theophan's flow of thought is imbued with the spirit of true asceticism, which grows out of deep study of patristic literature and personal experience. The text is as close as possible to the perception of the modern reader. It is intended for the widest possible audience.
The practical value of this edition is great. Members of the parish can read the day's Gospel and Epistle readings each day, together with their explanation, which will allow them not to miss a single day of the liturgical year; moreover, they will come to the Liturgy better prepared and disposed to listen to the corresponding passage from Holy Scripture.
Publishing house "Alilo" will soon offer readers the second volume of "Thoughts for Every Day of the Year" (the Georgian-language edition consists of 3 volumes).
