Troparia and Kontakia

Troparion: O Hope and Refuge of Christians, unashamed Mediatress, acceptable and received before the Creator: disregard not the voice of the supplications of sinners, but, as thou art good, hasten to help us who cry to thee with faith, O only blessed one; be swift to entreat, ready to intercede, and a compassionate Protector, thou who ever labourest for them that honour thee, O Theotokos.

Troparion: O Lord, save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance; grant to Thy God-protected people victory over the barbarians by the Cross, and keep them beneath its shelter, that we may say: O Lord, glory to Thee.

Another troparion: O Cross, guardian of the whole world; O Cross, beauty of the Churches; O Cross, strength of kings; O Cross, helper of the faithful; O Cross, glory of the angels and crusher of the demons.

Troparion: O Forerunner and Baptist John, dweller in the desert, who didst hear the divine voice of the Father, who wast counted worthy to baptise the Son and Lord and becamest a beholder of the Holy Spirit, and didst preach to all the baptism of repentance: intercede for us sinners also, that by thy prayer we may receive forgiveness of sins.

Kontakion: Let us fall down with compunction, O ye faithful, before the preacher of repentance who calleth sinners, the holy turtledove who loveth the desert, the sweetly calling swallow and the goldfinch of beautiful voice, the Baptist of Christ, that he may ask of Christ for us forgiveness of sins and great mercy for our souls.

Troparion: O Commanders of the heavenly hosts, we the unworthy entreat you that by your intercessions ye fence us about with the shelter of your wings, and that, kept by your bodiless glory, we who fall down before you may cry with uplifted hands: Deliver us from storms and temptations, O great princes of the heavenly powers.

Kontakion: O Archangels of God, ministers of the divine glory, princes of the angels and guides of those who have gone astray, ask for us also what is best and great mercy, O leaders of the host of bodiless powers.

Troparion: We celebrate the memory of Thy prophet (name), O Lord; through his intercession, O Christ God, save our souls.

Kontakion: Thy heart was enlightened by the Holy Spirit, and thou becamest a radiant receiver of prophecy, for thou didst behold all things present and to come; therefore we honour thee, O glorious prophet (name).

Troparion: O holy Apostles, entreat the merciful God to grant us forgiveness of sins and great mercy to our souls.

Kontakion: The steadfast and divinely-speaking preachers, the chief of Thy disciples, O Lord, Thou hast taken to the rest and enjoyment of Thy good things; for their labours and death Thou hast accepted above every sacrifice and offering, O Thou who alone knowest the secrets of hearts.

Troparion: Thy martyr (name), O Lord, in his contest received from Thee, our God, the crown of incorruption; for having Thy strength he cast down the tyrants and crushed the powerless might of the idols. Through his intercession, O Christ God, save our souls.

Troparion: The sufferings of Thy saints, O Lord, which they endured for Thee, accept now as intercession for us, and heal all our diseases, O Lover of mankind, we pray Thee.

Kontakion: Thou didst dawn as a radiant star, announcing Christ the unerring Sun, O victorious (name), enlightened by His rays; thou didst utterly quench the multitude of error, and pourest upon us the twofold light, and intercedest unceasingly for us all.

Troparion: A rule of faith, an image of meekness and a teacher of abstinence hath Christ truly made thee for thy flock; therefore thou hast gained the heights by humility and riches by poverty, O holy hierarch (name): entreat Christ God that He have mercy on our souls.

Troparion: O God of our fathers, who ever dealest with us according to Thy goodness, take not Thy mercy from us, but through their intercessions guide our life in peace.

Kontakion: Spiritual trumpet of the divine thunder, strength of the faithful and banisher of heresy, minister of the Trinity, great hierarch (name), who standest ever with the angels, entreat Christ God unceasingly for us all.

Troparion: As a dweller in the desert, an angel in the body and a wonderworker thou wast shown forth, O God-bearing holy father (name); by fasting, vigil and prayer thou didst receive grace from heaven, and thou healest the sick and the souls of those who flee to thee with faith. Glory to Him who gave thee strength; glory to Him who crowned thee; glory to Him who worketh wonders for all through thee.

Kontakion: Thou didst arm thyself divinely with purity of soul, and taking unceasing prayer in thy hands as a spear, thou didst boldly pierce the host of the demons, O wonderworking father (name): entreat God unceasingly for us all.

Troparion: In thee, O wondrous father, the image was well preserved; for taking up the cross thou didst follow Christ, and by thy deeds didst teach to disregard the flesh, for it passeth away, but to care for the soul, a thing immortal; wherefore thy soul rejoiceth with the angels, O blessed (name).

Troparion: With the streams of thy tears thou didst till the barren desert, and by sighs from the depth of thy soul didst make thy labours fruitful a hundredfold; and thou becamest a luminary, enlightening the world with miracles, O holy father (name): entreat Christ God that He have mercy on our souls.

Troparion: O guide of Orthodoxy, teacher of piety and reverence, luminary of the whole world, divinely inspired rule of hierarchs, all-wise (name), by thy teachings thou hast enlightened us all, O spiritual harp: entreat Christ God that He have mercy on our souls.

Troparion: O God of our fathers, who ever dealest with us according to Thy goodness, take not Thy mercy from us, but through their intercessions guide our life in peace.

Troparion: O Thou who by the depth of Thy wisdom orderest all things in love for mankind, and grantest unto all that which is profitable, O only Creator of all: give rest to the souls of Thy servants, for they have placed their hope in Thee, the Creator of all and God who loveth mankind.

Kontakion: With the saints give rest, O Christ, to the souls of Thy servants and handmaids, where there is no pain, no sorrow, no grief, no sighing, but joy and life everlasting.
