Prayer to the Holy Trinity, to Be Said Kneeling
O most holy Trinity, consubstantial and incomprehensible Might, Father Almighty, only-begotten Son and Holy Spirit, one God, who art the Creator and Lord of all things visible and invisible; who holdest all the ends of the universe by Thy might and governest them in wisdom; before whom trembleth every being and creature, element and living thing, those in the heavens, on earth and under the earth; whose might is joined with love ineffable, fathomless and boundless; who through this love didst create the first man in Thine image and likeness, and when he fell through his transgression didst not wholly abhor him, but didst will our salvation anew by the sending of Thine only-begotten Son, and by His offering for the blotting out of our sins through His nailing to the Cross and His dread death; who didst send down Thy Holy Spirit upon the holy disciples and apostles of Christ and madest them wise, and through them the Gospel of Christ was preached to all the world; who in Thy great love for mankind didst remember in the first age our Georgian people also, and didst make it the allotted portion of the Mother of God, and didst till it through the labours and struggles of the holy apostles Andrew the First-called, Simon the Canaanite and Matthias; who, when our people, the lot of the Mother of God, had been bent by the darkness of idolatry, didst send it again the holy virgin, Mother Nino, made wise and armed by the Holy Spirit, and didst enlighten it with the true faith; who in Thy righteous judgement justly bringest wrath upon us for our sins, and hast mercy on us in Thy long-suffering: to Thee we fall down and Thee we entreat, O good Lord: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vineyard — the inheritance of the Georgians — and our people dwelling therein, many times assailed and oppressed by the tyranny of the evil one, and establish it. Preserve, O Lord, our holy Church and all her children. Remember, O Lord, our most blessed and most holy Patriarch Ilia, Catholicos of Mtskheta and Patriarch of All Georgia and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia; the most reverend hierarchs and our lord… (here the local bishop is commemorated); the honourable priests and deacons, monks and nuns: make them wise day by day, O Lord, by the grace of the Holy Spirit, and through their prayer and labour guide well the course of our people on the way of salvation.
My hope is the Father, my refuge is the Son, my protection is the Holy Spirit: O Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.
O our Lord Jesus Christ, who hast taught us to receive all things whatsoever we ask of Thy heavenly Father in Thy name: lo, trusting unwaveringly in Thy words, we ask of God Almighty, the Giver of every good thing, that, according to the teaching of the holy Apostle, the goodness of God may lead us to repentance, who by our hardness and impenitent heart treasure up unto ourselves wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgement of God. Deliver us, O Lord, from a faith that is not living and is lukewarm; turn our hearts from vain works and from love of the pleasures of this brief and swiftly passing world; open our eyes to behold the glory of the world that passeth not away, and our minds to judge rightly of what profiteth our souls; kindle in our hearts the lamp of love for Thee, and turn us from every wicked way, that we, Thy servants and handmaids, fallen through sin but raised up by Thy help, may give thanks and sing to Thee, bless Thee, magnify Thee and pray to Thee: Holy, Holy, Holy art Thou, O our God; have mercy on us according to Thy great mercy. Amen.
Thou wast chosen by God, the Holy Trinity, and thou shinest before Him, O Lady Mary, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, and thou hast boldness before thy Son: entreat Him that, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, He may save us unto the ages. Amen.
