A prayer to the saint whose name you bear
Pray to God for me, O holy (name), for I fervently flee unto thee, the speedy helper and intercessor for my soul.
Besides our guardian angel, we turn in prayer to the saint whose name we bear as well, because that saint prays for us always before God.
To every Christian, as soon as they are born (on the eighth day), the Church gives the name of some saint. This means that the newborn is entrusted to that saint for help and protection. This saint, during their life on earth, helps them to overcome every trial and misfortune.
A Christian must without fail know the day of their saint's commemoration and their life (the day of your saint's commemoration is called the day of your angel). On this day a Christian must without fail come to church and glorify the saint in prayer (that is, ask the priest to serve a moleben in the name of their saint), and should prepare beforehand so as to receive Communion on that day. If for some reason they cannot come to church, then let them pray at home with their whole heart and soul (wherever they are).
