Venerable Theodora of Constantinople (X)

The Venerable Theodora lived in Constantinople in the first half of the tenth century. She married, but her husband soon died. At first the young widow tried to please God by serving the poor and wanderers, and then she was tonsured a nun and took up the ascetic life under the guidance of the Venerable Basil the New (commemorated 26 March), who had settled in a secluded cell in her own house. The holy woman died in deep old age in 940.
