St Boniface the Merciful, Bishop of Ferentino (IV)

Saint Boniface the Merciful, Bishop of Ferentino, was distinguished from childhood by love for the poor. When he met a poor man on the road, he would take off his clothes without a second thought and give them as alms. His widowed mother grieved greatly over this and reproached her son. Once Boniface distributed the whole year’s store of wheat to the destitute, but through his prayer the granary was miraculously filled to the brim again.

By God’s will the saint was consecrated Bishop of Ferentino (north of Rome). He governed his flock wisely and taught them too to give their last to their neighbour. Shining with prayer, fasting, almsgiving and many other good works, the hierarch reposed in peace in the fourth century.
