St Florus, Bishop of Amisus (VII)

Saint Florus, Bishop of Amisus, was the son of Orthodox parents, Florus and Euphemia. The saint received a good education, after which he entered service at the Byzantine emperor’s court and attained the rank of patrician. Florus married and had children, but his whole family was carried off by smallpox. The blessed one withdrew from the world and went to the outskirts of Constantinople, where he lived piously in solitude. Later Saint Florus was chosen Bishop of Amisus (Asia Minor). The Lord’s chosen one governed his flock wisely and reposed in peace at the beginning of the seventh century.
