Holy Prophet Habakkuk (7th Century Before the Nativity of Christ)
The holy Prophet Habakkuk, one of the twelve minor prophets, was of the tribe of Simeon and was active around 650 before the Nativity of Christ.
Saint Habakkuk prophesied the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, the Babylonian captivity, and the return of the captive Jews to their homeland. During the war with the Babylonians the prophet took refuge in Arabia, where the following miracle happened to him: once, when he was carrying dinner to the reapers, an angel of the Lord met him, and Habakkuk suddenly found himself in Babylon, where at that time the godless were keeping the Prophet Daniel shut up in prison. After the war with the Babylonians had ended, Saint Habakkuk returned to his homeland and died in deep old age. In the reign of Saint Theodosius the Younger (408–450) his incorrupt relics were uncovered.
The holy Martyr Myropia was born in the city of Ephesus. Her father died early, and her mother brought her up in faithfulness to the Christian faith.
